I originally made this station for sanding carved pieces, and flatwork. I found it to be a great place for carving in general, especially using rotary tools. The downdraft is connected to the dust collection system and works great. I used 3/4" holes for the air, which allows me to mount the flourescent light with magnifier where it works best, and I have some bench dogs that fit the holes which holds flatwork and some turned work great. In addition to the Foredom, I have an electric belt driven dental engine as well as air driven dental handpieces that I can quickly attach to the airline.
